Scavenger hunts present a unique opportunity for promotional product distributors. Piper Corp.’s the Thrill of the Hunt (www.thrillofhunt.com) develops and administers to themed scavenger hunts for team-building events, corporate outings, public hosted events and birthday parties, and frequently uses promotional merchandise to help create a memorable experience for attendees, says co-owner Heather Piper.
Earlier this year, Thrill of the Hunt partnered with the Dancing Dog Natural Market to host a family-friendly Dog Gone! Scavenger Hunt in Winchester, VA. The company solicited local merchants to participate, as a way to drive foot traffic into their shops, and promote the community and local businesses.
Pets and their people were encouraged to stop into local stores that agreed to participate, and received branded dog treats and toys for uncovering clues and completing online challenges. Among the prizes were flying disks, for dogs, dog bowls, scoops, dog tags and dog waste bag holder key chains. In addition, human participants received a branded drawstring bag to collect and carry the pet items.
While the participants uncovered their clues, they were also instructed to take photos of their favorite promotional items and post them online, or take a picture with a specific prize and post online.
