Football of all levels is in motion, high school (nearly done), college and professional. American footfall fans can be found far and wide, all over the world. Sounds like the perfect theme for a scavenger hunt!
Soon Superbowl LI will be upon us, February 5, 2017. Take this time to add another activity to your football tradition of tailgating and parties with a football scavenger hunt.
Scavenger hunts can be enjoyed by participants of all ages, indoors or out. Here are a few suggestions to create your very own football scavenger hunt. You might want to combine a few ideas, incorporate your own or do something entirely different. Make sure to be creative and have fun with the scavenger hunt.
During the Game
Create a scavenger hunt based off of a specific game, either televised or live at the stadium. Really? Sure.
Gather trivia on one team, the players, or both teams playing for a particular game. This will really test your die hard football fans. For those that may not be sports savvy, add history or fun facts regarding the location of the game or about the stadium.
One simple way to tackle a scavenger hunt is to give your football fans a list of items to look for, be as practical, creative or silly as imaginable. Have them spot a specific hat, piece of clothing on someone, or a dance or cheer done by a third party bystander. Perhaps during halftime, use the numbers in the score to find specific items related to the score among the stadium, or incorporate commercials if you’re watching the game on television.
Use the fans in the stadium to assist you in completing online challenges, or those at the party or event. The more engaging and interactive the better.
The scavenger hunt can be executed as a simple check list, on an *app, or through social media. Add the clues to a specific person’s social site during specific times, giving the participants a chance to complete one challenge before moving to the next. Use paused moments during the game to address the scavenger hunt before the attention is fully back on the football game.
Thrill of the Hunt also encourages the use of social media when uncovering tasks or completing challenges, as another level of interaction for exponential fun. Adding pictures and videos during the scavenger hunt and posting them is a great way to document the fun day and have others join from anywhere.
Before or After the Game
A football scavenger hunt is the perfect way to kick off a game, or as a post game activity for the whole family. Get your guests excited and educated on all the fun facts around the players, the teams, the stadium or even the city and state the game is being played. If you really want to have a wide variety of information, include celebrity interactions with the teams or players, spouses, player siblings or sponsors.
The scavenger hunt can be completed in tandem with tailgating, barbecuing or parties.
Of course, use a football themed scavenger hunt for a fundraiser! This is a unique way to raise money, involve the community and local businesses. Create the scavenger hunt around your own town, school or special historic area.
No matter the direction you take, stick to your football theme and have a blast!
