Maybe Cinco de Mayo is part of your family heritage or tradition, or maybe you like any celebration that involves a margarita.  Either way, Cinco de Mayo is a celebration, and with any celebration, a scavenger hunt can make it adventurous, interactive and fun.

Thrill of the Hunt is all about themed scavenger hunts, and Cinco de Mayo is one of those celebrations steeped in history and culture.

Incorporating facts and fun trivia always makes for an interesting scavenger hunt.  It also makes it educational for those who enjoy a history challenge, and let’s not forget to educate the younger generation.  While developing your clues, try to sprinkle in a few facts on:

  • The Franco-Mexican War
  • Mexican culture
  • Geography
  • Cuisine
  • Language
  • Art, music, movies
  • Latino Celebrities

Of course, the best part about his celebration is maintaining the theme, which is pretty easy to accomplish.  This is your opportunity to pull out that sombrero, shake those maracas, wear your vibrant colors (red, green and white) and try your hand at conquering the chili pepper.  This is the time to get creative and flashy.

You don’t have to live or originate south of the border to partake in this holiday.  A scavenger hunt can be executed anywhere, day or night, in the north or the south.  That’s right, a scavenger hunt can be executed in the comfort of your own home or backyard, your neighborhood, a festival, throughout an entire city or even completely online.  If you’re ambitious enough, take the scavenger hunt throughout several states or long distance areas.  Maybe this is the time to explore the cultural district of your area.  Don’t be shy, mingle and become cultured.

Sometimes the challenges are the best part of the scavenger hunt.  Make sure to capture the event in photos and videos.  Here are a few ideas for some potentially memorable Cinco de Mayo moments:

  • Salsa dancing
  • Learning Spanish
  • Playing the maracas or some sort of instrument
  • Paint a picture using the colors from the Mexican flag
  • Impersonating your favorite Latino singers and actors
  • Creating your own Mariachi band, or joining one

Participate in a Cinco de Mayo scavenger hunt!  Remember, enjoy the celebration.
