Planning a Company Holiday Party Scavenger Hunt Thrill of the Hunt

Like it or not, we’re fast approaching September.  The close of September means the end of the third quarter.  What next?  This also marks the end of another year and the merriment of the holidays.

Depending on the size of your company or organization, you might need to address your holiday party venue sooner rather than later. This may also hold true if you have a particular venue or theme in mind for your celebration. It’s never too early to start planning.

If you’re a smaller company, perhaps you have the autonomy to get creative with your holiday celebrations. Usually, this means you too need plenty of time to plan.

Considerations

Planning a holiday work party sometimes isn’t always cut and dry.  There are a lot of factors to consider such as the budget, company policies, number of employees, the tastes of the employees, the date, time and location of the party, activities and of course the overall goal of the event. There’s a lot to consider.

Budget

Are you lucky enough to have a large or unlimited budget? Kudos.  While other event planners have to mind price tags, they can still plan a splendid day or evening to mark the end of the year or ring in the New Year.  Remember, you don’t have to stick with the traditional boring dinner.  Get creative, have fun.

Company Policies

Sometimes specific company policies affect the planning stages of the holiday party.  Some companies don’t permit alcohol, the use of social media and photos taken of the employees and so on. During the budget review and initial planning stages, make sure to address any of these concerns before diving in.

Employees

This is probably the number one item to address when planning any celebration. Not only because you’re dealing with sheer numbers but you’re also dealing with personality types across the board. That’s a tall order.

This stage is when it’s determined if spouses and significant others will be invited or it this event is strictly a company function. All of these factors are largely based on the budget.

A few other items to take into consideration are food allergies or specific dietary concerns, distance and accessibility to the venue, religious requirements and additional costs that may result from the event such as parking, toll roads, dress code and more. Successful event planners not only address what’s seen but also those underlying issues or potential problems before they arise.

Activities

This is where creativity shines and can make or break the traditional event. Sure it might be enough to host a dinner and give a few presentations before calling it a night. However, what if you had your team interacting with a unique fun activity? Like what? Yes, a scavenger hunt of course.

Scavenger Hunt

A scavenger hunt can be designed to accompany a formal outing or for a casual event. It could be used to incorporate company or brand history, fun trivia or to educate the employees. Don’t forget, a scavenger hunt is a perfect vehicle to further spread the holiday cheer.

There are many benefits to a company holiday party scavenger hunt such allowing the game to promote the company online and increase the company’s social presence or it can create an atmosphere of unity and team building.
